In logic as well as in law historical precedent means that the burden of proof rest on any and all new claims to truth. That which is accepted as truth test any new claim to truth. Therefore, since Islam follows Christianity the Muslim must first make a convincing case for the truth claims of Islam (Allah is God, the Koran is the word of God etc.).
