Ok, Lets go back to my ending question then:
"I see Yusufali added words (those in parentheses) but how
legitimate is this translation from arabic to english?
Notice Pickthall and Shakir do not do the same thing."
You suggested a translation by Yusafali - why do you feel he
has a more authoritative answer over Pickthall and Shakir?
Do you speak arabic yourself? Does the word in question translate
to face or countenance? If I go with the Yusufali translation,
I would stick to that one entirely - is that what you follow?
I dont like to pick and choose the best bits between translations.
though from my perspective, it is interesting to see how the
different interpretations come about. Dont worry, I do this
with the bible as well but I am able to go back to some of the
Hebrew and have gone thru the bits of the Dead Sea Scrolls made
available to the public.
As for going to web sites....nah, I trust NOTHING on the web -
for, against or indifferent as there is just no regulation of
a persons integrity.
One media claim alone as fact is never 100% trustworthy, however,
when other reporters go to verify the story and come back with a
verification that is strong enough to concern groups of American
blacks into action, one does have to dig deeper into it. As you note
in my previous post, I did ask if Sudanese government were lying.
I dont know - what evidence do we have to the contrary right now
aside from the word of a government?
