: : Assalaam Ulaikum!
: : I have been reading some of the posts and some Non-Muslims
: : are mentioning 'contradictions' in the Qur'an without specifically
: : saying which verses contradict each other. Instead they refer to
: : another site on the internet. I am fairly new in Islam and one of
: : the reasons that I reverted to Islam from Christianity is because
: : I didn't find any contradictions in the Qur'an (unlike the Bible).
: : If someone could please give me some examples, because Allah
: : says in the Qur'an 4:83 -
: : Will they not, then, meditate upon the Qur'an? Had it been from
: : anyone other than Allah, they would surely have found there-in
: : much discrepancy.
: Dear Israfil,
: welcome to the discussion here.
: My mathbook doesn't have any contradictions either. Does it make
: that divine?
No, but it makes your math book trustworthy.
: I think the above conclusion is a logical fallacy.
Let's see whose conclusion is a logical fallacy. You have written several times that your bible is the word of God. But your following statement shows that you were not telling the truth.
: The Bible has been written over 1600 years by many different
: human writers, and even in different cultures.
Wasn't it the word of God? What word of God has to do with changing cultures?
:Just look how much
: America has changed in the last 50 years. 1600 years certainly
: have changed culture for the Israelites as well. So, we would expect
: that there are "rough edges" in the Bible, just because of the many
: different circumstances and places and times it was written.
Wasn't it inspired by Holy Ghost? Does Holy Ghost inspire your scholars all the time? Does your Bible change depending on circumstances and cultures? If your answer is yes (your answer is obviously yes if we read above and following statements) then doesn't it make your Bible not the word of God but word of human-being?
: That might not necessarily be contradictions, but certain tensions
: are there, that is not denyable.
Those are contradictions, and you cannot deny them or you cannot accept them as word of God. As you said it is word of human, not God then why do you still follow the bible?
: Anyway, you welcome to have a look what I personally found in
: contradictions in the Qur'an, On the other hand, I don't think
: these are the strongest reasons to reject the Qur'an. My personal
: reasons why I don't think the Qur'an is valid as divine revelations
: I have written up in this place: Why I am not a Muslim.
There is no condradiction in Qur'an. Even God says if there is a contradiction then it is not my word.
: These latter thoughts is what I find a lot more important. But if people
: look for contradictions, then I can provide some of those as well.
Please, but without changing or twisting the words of God as you (christians) always do.
: May the Lord guide your search for truth.
May Allah show you the right path and bless you with that.
Peace be upon you.
