: Dear Brother Joshen,

My name is "Jochen".

: {About the meaning of the word "Islam" please visit
: Islam & Peace and pay close attention to the link at
: the bottom, to a Muslim website that refutes this Muslim
: missionary claim that Islam means peace.}

: I have visited your site where you admit that the word Islam is from the root
: Al Salaam which does mean Peace and can also mean Surrender to our Creator
: which generates Peace, as witnessed by visiting many Muslim countries.

Several points.

1. This is not my article, the name on the bottom should make that very clear.
So, I have not "admitted" anything.
2. It is amazing how you can read the page and still claim that Islam means peace.
This is plain wrong.
3. You may say that submission to God PRODUCES peace in your heart. That is a testimony
of your experience. But that is not the same as saying that LINGUISTICALLY Islam means peace
because it doesn't. Can you give me even ONE passage in the Qur'an or the hadith where the
where the word Islam is used in the Arabic, and where it is translated as "peace" in the English
translation? Just one? Or can you give my ONE dictionary entry in a respected Arabic dictionary
that says that "Islam" means peace?
4. Why do you not even believe the MUSLIM article that says that this claim is a misconception?

: You also misquote the Koran and do not refer to the explaination of the verses as Prophet Muhammad
: explains and demonstrates Peace.

Again, I have not written this article. Why don't you read it a bit more carefully before
you respond? Furthermore, I don't accept general accusations. Where in this article is the Qur'an
misquoted? Please tell me the exact quote and why it is wrong. I will ask my Arabic friends
and if it is wrong, then it will be corrected. You have my word on this.

That Muhammad was AT SOME OCCASIONS peaceful is not denied by me or anybody.
The rest of your article is really a non-issue. Nobody is violent all the time.
The issue is the many events where he cannot be described as peaceful.

Let me end my response with Muhammad's greeting of peace
[see the above article],

Aslem, taslam. [meaning, peace be with you]

Jochen
[obviously this is greeting is sarcasm, but both the words
come from the same root as Islam, therefore they mean 'peace',
right???]
