Dear Sister Elizabeth,
I am honored by your response,
I will start where you do;
{My response: So...Mr Ghounem...are you suggesting that
Jesus followed the Quran and the Sunnah?}
What is the Koran, in Arabic, it means "The Reading", it is a pure message from God.
Jesus did not follow the Torah of his days because he was sent
to tell the Jews that your going astry {i.e. Changing the Text}.
Jesus came to confirm the law of Moses who also followed the pure
message from God until changed latter by self righteous Rabbies.
The religion Islam was first revealed to Adam, it was then made better and more whole
with Abraham, and then even better and more whole with Moses, and then it even
got better and more whole with Jesus. Jesus Says in John 16:
12"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.
14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you."
It was then perfected and Completed with He, {Prophet Muhammad} "This day I have perfected your religion for you and Completed My favor on you, and have chosen for you as way of life Al-Islam as your religion" {Koran 5:3}
All of the past Prophets followed the Koran which means "The Reading", the pure message from God.
They all had there own form of Sunnah, which was then also perfected and
clearly documented by the companions of Prophet Muhummad.
For example Prophet Jesus taught to rince before praying, etc..
{There is a difference between Islam and islam...Jesus was a muslim...not a Muslim...
I think this is what Ms Hijazi was trying to point out}
Jesus was a Muslim in the sence that He submitted to God's will and
preached to others to Submit to God's will. He followed "The Reading" of
his day {i.e. Koran}
Jesus is no more or no less a Muslim than Prophet Muhammad.
They both came to preach Islam.
The difference with the Koran {"Reading"} of Prophet Muhammad in comparison to the previous Korans {"Readings"} is that our Koran is protected by God as a Mercy to humans.
All the past Korans {i.e. Torah, Gospel} would be very similar and perfect like our Koran if they weren't changed by humans.
I hope this has answered your question Sister Elizabeth, Jesus did follow the Koran
"Reading from God", and practiced Sunnah as can be seen through out the 'Bible' {i.e.
giving to the poor}
"The Reading"{'Koran' in Arabic} was perfected and protected by God with the coming of Prophet Muhammad. Almost for 1,500 years now, almost 1.5 billion Believers, over 46 Muslim countries and the non-believers still doubt.
Jesus did not follow the Torah or the Gospel, he followed the pure "Reading" from God.
Peace and Blessings,
Your Brother in Islam: Mohamed
