Omar Bakri Muhammad, the leader of Al-Muhajiroun (a radical Muslim group which has broken away from Hizb ut-Tahrir) featured in an hour-long Channel Four 'Witness' documentary titled 'The Tottenham Ayatollah' screened at 9pm on Tuesday 8 April.
The faintly mocking coverage given by a Jewish journalist who followed (and chauffered) Omar Bakri for a year showed the well-known radical planning his London Arena Extravaganza 'Rally for Revival' (that didn't happen) and meeting colleagues in secret UK locations.
Part of his year's activities involved collecting several thousand pounds in small change in giant transparent coke bottles to support the activities of Hamas and Hizbollah.
As reported in the January edition of Isa Masih Al-Muhajiroun is targetting Oxford, Cambridge and Durham universities and a number of London campuses, including the School of Oriental and African Studies, University College and the London School of Economics. This group along, with the similarly radical HUT, are quite distinct from the majority of university Islamic groups which are usually affiliated to the much more moderate Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS).
