Latest Internet Action

Over 6,000 people world-wide (many from Muslim countries) have ‘pulled down’ the transcript of the ‘Sources of Islam’ debate at Cambridge last Autumn between Jay Smith and Dr Jamal Bedawi. Jay’s most recent debate (with Abdul Green on 29 May on ‘Is the Qur'an the Word of God?’) is also posted and generating much early interest.

On-line debate

There is an urgent need for more students with access to the internet to debate on-line with the many Muslims responding (see quotable quotes below). You can visit the site to gauge the action on http://www.domini.org/debate/

Muslim newsgroups

Meanwhile, the Muslim Newsgroups are also buzzing with discussion of this material which strongly challenges the inspiration of the Qur'an and the prophethood of Muhammad.

There are two main Muslim sites on the Usenet. The better one is soc.religion.islam, which is moderated to ensure that contributions are of a high academic calibre. By contrast, alt.religion.islam is uncensored and contains a lot of offensive polemical material (trash). It’s worth a look, if only to be aware of what arguments are being put forward. Again students are encouraged to join the debate, praying for open interested individuals with whom to correspond on e-mail.
